THE IRISH BLUES CLUB LISTINGS FEBRUARY 2007
HELLHOUND (OPEN JAM)
Making their debut appearance at the Blues Club, this Dublin band Hellhound are here to entertain you tonight. The archetypal three piece unit, the band performs classic electric blues: big, loud and fiery. Distinctive takes from the songbooks of Cream, SRV, Hendrix, John Mayall, Led Zeppelin and more. Come on down and support and join in if you feel the need. Bring your instruments and get there early!
TUESDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2007
ARTHUR EBELING (HOLLAND) http://www.arthurebeling.nl/
Welcome the Arthur Ebeling band, known in Holland as one of the most authentic, awesome and all around rhythm 'n blues guitarists and singer-songwriters. Appreciated for his intricate and divers techniques, conveys an obvious love for his Gretsch-guitar, music and performing. Arthur takes his audience on a journey of unending surprise and delights. Arthur's music is a unique, recognizable, timeless and catching mix between rhythm 'n blues, rock 'n roll, country-blues - in a jazzy sauce. With Ray Charles he shares his soul, with Tom Waits his rawness and with Eddie Cochran his rock 'n roll. Be there it’s going to be good!
TUESDAY 20th FEBRUARY 2007
THE BUSINESS
One of the original and experienced blues bands around ‘The Business’ return to the Blues Club to deliver their renditions and tribute to the music of the greats such as the great Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters and Leadbelly to name but a few. The band comprises some of the finest and foremost of Dublin’s musicians, the superb Pat Farrell, sporting a new 335 guitar is playing out of his skin, John Quearney on bass and Davy Gaynor on drums. The band get better and better every time I se them. Check them out!
TUESDAY 27th FEBRUARY 2007
ALI & THE DT’S
Formed from the remnants of Manalishi but keeping the main ingredient, young Ali Moore himself, son of Peter of The International Blues Band fame, who displays no dissimilarity to his fathers irreverent ‘grab it by the balls’ attitude, the band deliver a high energy, no nonsense and sometimes melodic set of blues adaptations, along with new compositions since their last gig. Described as music to make you top yourself would be a definite exaggeration more music to prevent you topping yourself. If you are and are not feeling suicidal be there. It won’t be the drink that will give you the DT’S!!
ALL GIGS ARE HELD IN JJ SMYTH’S 12, AUNGIER STREET. DOORS 8.45PM GIGS 9.30PM TO 11.30PM. ADMISSION €8.00 (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED). ALL GIG LISTINGS AVAILABLE ON THE IRISH BLUES CLUB WEB SITE http://www.irishblues.com/
