Tallaght Voice to continue as sister papers silenced

The Voice Newspaper Group is reported to be still publishing the Tallaght Voice despite the closure of four sister newspapers, the Kildare Voice, Tipperary Voice, Cavan Voice and Monaghan Voice this week. Forty full- and part-time jobs were lost with the closure of the titles.

The Independent says: "In a statement, the Voice Newspaper Group blamed the closures on a 'downturn in the economy' and 'unprecedented competition from UK newspaper groups'. "

Meanwhile, newspaper, magazine and online publisher, Johnston Press said its advertising sales rose by 4.5% in 2007 at its Irish regional newspapers, which include the Tallaght Echo. This is according to a report on Adworld.
