Council launches new Roads & Transportation website

South Dublin County Council today went live with its new style Roads & Traffic website, a section of the general Council site at www.sdublincoco.ie.

The Department describes itself:

"The responsibilities of the Roads Department include the maintenance and upkeep of the existing public road network. The public road network consists of carriageways, margins, footpaths and kerbs. Other responsibilities include planning, design and construction of new roads and motorways, public lighting, traffic management measures incorporating provision for traffic safety and the operation of a school warden service.

"Conscious of the vital importance of an adequate public road network to economic and social development, the Council's Roads policy is to bring the public road network to a reasonable standard through construction, realignment, timely and adequate maintenance/repair in accordance with a planned programme and to provide appropriate traffic management measures to ensure efficient and safe transportation for all road users."

The site includes a news section showing latest Road Works and also information on Pay & Display permits in the SDCC administrative area.
