Prisoners' Families Infoline to be launched, now seeking operators

"Prisoners' Families Infoline Ltd - a unique new telephone information line supporting the families and friends of prisoners and ex-prisoners who are at present marginalised and without a voice.

"It will offer a range of information, non-judgemental support and a listening ear. It will be based in Tallaght Village.

"We are currently recruiting 2 part-time telephone operators to launch and run the Infoline.

Prisoners' Families Helpline is a voluntary organisation established to help meet the needs of families and friends of prisoners.

"Skills required: Experience on a voluntary helpline preferred. Excellent communication skills, ability to work on own initiative, knowledge of wide range of social issues necessary. Computer skills required for administrative and record-keeping purposes.

"Training in telephone helpline skills will be offered.

"The successful applicants will be offered a one-year fixed-term contract of 9 hours per week. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

"Closing dates for applications is 20th December 2006 at 6.00 p.m.Interviews will be conducted in early January 2007.
